Compliance with Porsche standards is essential to making your “Porsche Perfect Ownership Experience” extend to your collision repair needs.

To guarantee this, an authorized Porsche representative will conduct periodic on-site audits of each center, ensuring that you receive only the finest quality repairs. Only repair centers that continually meet our inspector’s rigorous standards will achieve and maintain the PACC designation. In addition, certain parts for advanced repairs will only be available to PACC centers. To ensure that your Porsche vehicle receives expert craftsmanship, all centers adhere to the work instructions contained in the Porsche Workshop Information System. This specifies the usage of procedures, materials, tools, and equipment required to conduct high-quality repairs.

A trained, on-site estimator with a thorough understanding of the Porsche repair guidelines is prepared to make efficient and thorough assessments of any collision damage. For further quality assurance, a PACC manager, knowledgeable in the Porsche repair process, will oversee any collision repair work. Only technicians who have met the stringent training requirements established by Porsche are permitted to repair Porsche vehicles under the PACC program. In addition, all collision repairs done at PACC use Genuine Porsche parts. Lastly, your vehicle undergoes a final pre-delivery quality inspection to ensure that you are satisfied with the completed collision work.

You will be updated on the progress of collision repairs every other day. Once your vehicle is placed in the capable hands of a PACC, rest assured that it is in a safe and secure environment. After completing repairs on your vehicle, the PACC will provide a detailed invoice of work completed, and a thorough explanation of all the work performed.

The “Porsche Perfect Ownership Experience”

Owning a Porsche is one of the most rewarding and exciting experiences one can have. This is due in part to the high level of professional service available to Porsche owners. To further extend this professional service, Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) has created the Porsche Approved Collision Center (PACC) program. PACC repair centers have highly skilled and trained technicians, who adhere strictly to the repair procedures published by Porsche. The centers use only Genuine Porsche parts, materials, tools, and equipment to repair damage. All of this helps to ensure the “Porsche Perfect Ownership Experience.” Participating authorized Porsche dealers in the United States and Canada can offer these services to owners through a designated Porsche Approved Collision Center.

Multi-Material Structural Repair

Materials with the highest strength characteristics are used in Porsche vehicles. These ultra-high-strength steels are used for safety components such as A- and B-pillars and door sills. This material poses new challenges for body repairs because its extremely high strength significantly impairs its reshapability, weldability and machinability. In principle, such repairs correspond to the procedure for purely steel vehicles.

However, special precautions must be taken due to the risk of contact corrosion of aluminum body parts. Grinding dust from the steel parts and particularly flying sparks produced by cutting or welding work must not be allowed to fall on aluminum parts. This also applies for painted aluminum parts. The paint may be damaged by red-hot steel parts and the steel particles may come into contact with aluminum body part, which can lead to contact corrosion on the undamaged aluminum body.

For this reason, the entire body must be carefully protected when performing steel repairs. This is done by using corresponding covering tarps and masking. In addition, cutting work must be performed only as machining operations with the body saw. Where grinding work is unavoidable, grinding discs must be used that produce either no or only minimum sparks. When performing welding work, a spot welder must be used where possible, since this produces less welding material spatter during the welding process.

High Voltage Vehicles

All gas/electric hybrid and pure electric Porsche vehicles MUST be inspected by an authorized Porsche high voltage technician BEFORE any collision repair work begins. This is to determine whether the high voltage battery needs to be disconnected and/or removed from the vehicle prior to repair to ensure a safe working environment for collision technicians.

This is accomplished by either bringing the car to a Porsche dealer, or having a qualified high voltage technician from a Porsche dealer come to the collision shop to assess the vehicle prior to repair.

Structural Measuring

For all but the most minor repairs, Porsche requires all vehicles be measured pre- and post-repair using a Porsche approved electronic measuring system. Measurements should be entered on the RO to prove the repaired vehicle is within factory specifications prior to customer delivery.

918 Spyder Protocol

This rare Porsche has a carbon fiber body shell, and is also a gas/electric hybrid. These vehicles must ALWAYS be transported to a Porsche dealer for collision repair. The dealer will remove the damaged body pieces, supply the collision shop with new pieces to refinish, then replace the finished back to the vehicle, at the dealership. 

Because Porsche Charleston is the sponsor for Baker Collision Center, this is handled entirely in-house.

No Subletting

Porsche Approved Collision Centers do not sublet any portion of the repair/refinish process on a Porsche vehicle, nor to take in sublet work on a Porsche vehicle from another collision center. 

In fact, non-approved collision centers sometimes sublet repairs from Baker Automotive Rentals.

Refrigerant recharging / recovery/recycling capability

Baker Collision Center uses a modern YF1234a capable R134 refrigerant recharging / recovery/recycling station for any work to the A/C system.

Structural Adhesives

The use of structural adhesive in body shell construction contributes stiffness, durability and crash strength. During the body shell production a high strength, single component epoxy resin adhesive that cures in the paint drying oven is used. It is not possible to use this same material for repairs due to the extremely high curing temperature necessary. Rather, a temperature independent, two component epoxy resin adhesive is used.

Genuine Porsche Parts

Only “Genuine Porsche parts” or sections of “Genuine Porsche parts” are used for repair work.  “Genuine Porsche Parts” attain their final strength only after the production stage of cathodic immersion painting and drying
